What's In A Name Part 5,678
C, who often goes by her middle name, which is Joy, just asked me to call her "My Dear Little Joy." She doesn't mind if I also call her Puppy or Chickadee.

So Sweet!
C: Momma, can I have some candy?
Me: Sorry...no.
C: But Mommmmmaaaaaa...oh, wait. I already had a cookie today, and sometimes sugar makes me behave badly. So I'd better not!

Strong To The Core
Over breakfast, while H and J are still asleep:
C: Can I turn on the Wii Fit Plus if I turn the volume all the way down?
Me: I don't think so. I'm going to take a shower, then get the big kids up.
C: But, Mom, it says to exercise every day to keep your core strong!!
Me: Oh. Okay, then.

C: But, Mom, it says to exercise every day to keep your core strong!!
Me: Oh. Okay, then.
Oh, the shame of having a six year old who is more driven to fitness than I am!

Stall Tactics
C, stalling at bedtime:
What if Jesus had a different name?
I want to be president of Europe when I grow up.
Why do we need to wear clothes?

Enough Already!
C, watching a Khan Academy math video:
OoooOOOOOOOOoooooo!!!
... Okay, now I get it.
... Momma, I get it but he keeps going on and on! How do you stop this thing?

Ironic
This is a poem written by C.
Facebook:
You can talk to people
From faraway places
But you can't see
Their faces
You can talk to people
From faraway places
But you can't see
Their faces

Latin Birds And Bees
C is learning some Latin, and likes to intersperse it into daily conversation. (Latin words are in quotations.)
Today in the car we talked awkwardly about how babies are made. A woman at church brought her week-old baby on Sunday, so C is very curious. Because we were in the car, I explained that a man and woman do a private thing that shows they love each other, and that can sometimes make a baby. She was understandably confused by this, and kept trying to imagine what the private thing might be. I told her that I'd explain when I have our book of body diagrams at home.
Then the conversation moved to C's friend, who just turned seven, and the fact that C will soon be seven, too.
C: G is "sept" now. I will be "sept" soon, too.
Me: Yes, soon!
C: Wow! I'd better really enjoy my "sex" life now while I still can!!
