Of the Moon and Molars

It's 2:20 a.m. here, and Ernie is explaining that he doesn't want to live on the moon for about the hundredth time.

Molars. Wonderful when you've got 'em; tough when you don't quite.

Fangirl

My plan to let C watch Sesame Street on Youtube until she falls asleep has backfired.  Last night she woke up calling, "Mama!  Ernie!  Mama?  Ernie!"

LOL!

Cute Name

One of C's first "words" was brrrrr! (for cold).
Lately one of her favorite treats is frozen blueberries - probably has a lot to do with getting molars in.
You can probably guess what she calls them, though...
Brrrr! bewwies!

Performing

C's new trick: Hold onto the laundry basket, stand up, caaaaaaarefully let go. Look around to see who's watching, crow with pride, clap for herself, laugh, boom. Hold onto the laundry basket...
She must have done it 150 times last night (no exaggeration)!

First Sentence

She said her first sentence!
She has this "word" she uses when she wants something. She points and says "i-wan'-dat," all squished together like one word. She's been saying this for a few months. Last night, though, she pointed at her doll and said, "I-wan'-dat...baby!" Today she pointed and said, "I-wan'-baby!"
Of course we gave it to her. 😉

Crawling!

She's crawling! She has to think very HARD to do it, and you can see the wheels in her head turning, turning as she does, but she crawled halfway across the room! :-)

Learning Too Fast

Our exercise ball has been a tremendous success! I put C on it one day, and within 10 hours she was pulling up to stand. Another day, within a few hours she was cruising. Yesterday I put her on again, and now she's walking while only holding on with one hand.
I think I'll deflate it now. 😉

Early Prediction of Success?

Ha ha! C's little toy (Violet, from Leapfrog) plays a song that spells C's name. This morning, when it got to the spelling part, C said, "A! A! A! A! A!" Maybe that's what all that spelling sounds like to a baby - or is it a foreshadowing of bad spelling lessons in the future?

Strategy

I had a talk with C today. She refuses to eat anything green. No veggies whatsoever. Yet she doesn't mind picking up any little thing off the living room floor and shoving it in her mouth. She does it with gusto. I tried to point out the fallacy in logic here. She wasn't interested.
Guess I'll have to cover the living room floor with veggies!

Reach Out

Baby "gets" the phone, but not that it's only the phone.

Picks up toy phone; presses to ear. "'Ewwo?"

Picks up baby doll; presses to ear.  "'Ewwo?"

Picks up plastic ball; presses to ear.  "'Ewwo?"

So far the ball seems to be the most responsive.  After the initial greeting and a pause, she added, "Beebok!  Bow!"

Onomatopoeia

She says ball, mama, and bye bye. Bet you'll never guess what she says for "hair," though!

.

.

.

She calls hair “owwWWwww!” because that’s the sound we make when she pulls it!

Urgent!

I wonder why it is that every time I let baby play with the phone she unerringly places one thumb on 9, the other on 1 (pressing twice), and then goes straight for "talk"?

Guess I'll make her stick with her play phone and leave my real one alone!

Down It Goes!

C has reached the stage when all finger food is an experiment in the law of gravity.
